Tom is active in the Trust and Estate Section of the Colorado Bar Association, serving as its Chair in 2001-2002. He has also served as Vice-Chair of the Section (2000-2001), Co-Chair and Chair of the Statutory Revisions Committee (1993-1995), Legislative Liaison (1995-1996), and Council Member (1996-1998). He also chaired the GST Subcommittee for the Colorado Estate Planning Forms Committee. He was on the Board of the Boulder County Estate Planning Council for five years and served as its President in 2003. He is currently a member of the Practice Committee of ACTEC and was a former member of its State Laws Committee. THOMAS L. STOVER Tom Stover is the founder and manager of Stover & Spitz LLC in Longmont, Colorado. His practice emphasizes trust and estate planning, probate, taxation, real estate and business law. He graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law, Order of the Coif, in May 1985. Tom is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He was selected by his legal peers as the only Longmont attorney to be included in Colorado Super Lawyers® for 2008. He was also listed in the 2006 and 2007 editions of Colorado Super Lawyers®. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers In America for over 10 years. Tom is a Boulder County native and has lived and practiced in Longmont for over 20 years. He is active in a variety of community activities, including the Twin Peaks Rotary Club, of which he is a 20 year member. |

Tom enjoys mountain climbing and has climbed all of Colorado’s 54 peaks over 14,000 feet, culminating with the Summit of South Maroon Peak on August 9, 1997. Tom is also an avid cyclist and recently completed the Tour of the Tucson Mountains in April of 2008 and the Ride the Rockies in June of 2008, covering over 435 miles in 6 days of riding in southwestern Colorado. |

Tom frequently lectures throughout the state to various groups, including: Colorado Continuing Legal Education (CLE in Colorado, Inc.), Professional Educational Systems, Inc. (PESI), the Colorado Bar Association, the Boulder County and other local bar associations and the Boulder County and various other Estate Planning Councils. He speaks on a variety of estate planning topics, including planning after the 2001 Tax Act, estate administration, estate distribution and funding of trusts, and fiduciary tax planning. He also speaks to local civic groups on various estate planning topics. |
